The Southern Spirit Girls 15 Volleyball team took first place in the Cyclone Classic Gold Bracket in Atlanta. This is the second year they won the Cyclone Classic. The players are Brinkley Bray, Jamie Gilbert, Claire Houghtaling, Megan Houston, Dempsey Jindra, Carisssa Osborne, Janice Park, Natalie Sisler, Jackie Stroud, Kelley Utt and Elissa Waldrop. The team is coached by head coach Bob Didier and assistant coaches Kymmy Smith and Allen Smith.

Whitewater head volleyball coach Ben Thacker knew he had something special before a lot of other people did. Parents, fans and other coaches recognized the potential of the Lady Wildcats but a slow start and an 0-5 record at a tournament against some of the state’s top teams had many thinking “maybe next year.” Not Thacker.

The Whitewater Lady Wildcats varsity volleyball team, ranked number one in Class AAAA, advanced to the state volleyball finals with two victories this weekend.

Four of the Elite Eight in the Class AAAA state volleyball tournament are from area 3-AAAA.

The Whitewater Lady Wildcats varsity volleyball team won the 3-AAAA area volleyball tournament championship this past weekend.

The Northgate Lady Vikings Volleyball team (30-9) competed this past weekend in the 42 team Conyers Classic.

Whitewater went 5-1 at the Lovett Block Party Invitational getting wins over Athens Academy (25-18, 25-22), South Forsyth (25-18, 25-17), Milton (25-15, 25-18), Columbus (25-18, 15-25, 25-20) and Westminster (25-16, 25-15) before losing to Pope.
