Starr's Mill boys bring home state tennis championship
The Starr’s Mill varsity boys tennis team captured the AAAA state title on Saturday and, like any good champion, they had to deal with some adversity on the way.

Starr’s Mill’s boys won the state tennis title 3-1 over McIntosh at Clayton County International Park on Saturday.
Local tennis teams shooting for spot in state semifinals
Starr’s Mill’s girls are still alive in the Class AAAA tennis playoffs. The Lady Panthers are in the state quarterfinals against Heritage, Conyers after beating Loganville (4-0) and Cass (4-1). A win over Heritage puts Starr’s Mill, once again, into the Class AAAA final four. They would meet the winner of Bainbridge and Lakeside, Evans with a win. The Class AAAA semifinals and finals will take place Saturday at Clayton County International Park.

Southern Crescent Tennis Association (SCTA), in conjunction with USTA, participated in the USTA pilot program, “Adopt A Unit,” providing portable tennis equipment to troops deployed in Afghanistan.

Tennis team wins state title
The Peachtree City Tennis Center's Team Martin represented the Southern Crescent at the state finals and won their division at the USTA Jr. Team Teannis Georgia State Championships, July 31 and Aug. 1 in Macon.
