The AFC Lightning under 15 girls captured the Copa Division Championship going undefeated at Disney’s 2011 College Showcase recently.
First ever McIntosh Hall of Fame induction a rousing success
McIntosh High School’s inaugural Hall of Fame inductees posed for a photo with current Chiefs sports stars Saturday night just prior to the start of the banquet and induction ceremony. The current athletes were nominated by their coaches for the honor of serving and interacting with the banquet guests.
McIntosh launches Hall of Fame this week
Five outstanding McIntosh High School graduates are about to be inducted into the school’s brand new Sports and Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame presented by Lexus South Atlanta. In the thirty years since the school opened, the Chiefs have won 35 state championships and countless of its former students have gone on to achieve great things.
Lightning U-14 Boys win summer tournament
The AFC Lightning U-14 Elite boys team took first place in Lightning's Sizzlin' Summer Soccer Tournament. The team was undefeated during the two day tournament.
Atlanta Cup champs
The AFC Lightning U12 Boys Gold are the Atlanta Cup Champions. On Saturday, they won their first game 6-0, won their second game 3-0. On Sunday, tied their third game 2-2, won the Semifinals 6-0, and Monday, won the finals 2-0.

She wasn’t on the original roster but because of an injury to Lindsay Tarpley, Kelley O’Hara, a Starr’s Mill High School and Stanford graduate, is headed to Germany for the Women’s World Cup.
McIntosh boys reach third straight AAAA soccer final
They have been here before. Last year, actually, when they lost to Starr’s Mill in penalty kicks. And the year before when Marist eliminated them. They’ve been here many times before that too, winning three state titles since 1992. The McIntosh boys will play for their fourth state title on Saturday when they take on the Chattahoochee Cougars.

Fayette final
It seems almost like a sure thing that there will be a soccer final featuring a team from Fayette County each season. Since 1992, 12 local girls teams have won a state championship or a share of the title and five local boys teams have won it all. Lately, it seems like the finals almost always involve Fayette teams on both sides.
