PTC Cross-Country Team Challenge returns

Runners from all elementary and middle schools in Fayette County will compete for team and individual honors at the second annual PTC Cross-Country (X-C) Team Challenge race, set for 8 a.m. on May 21 at Oak Grove Elementary School in Peachtree City.
Each participating school selects teams of boys and girls to run in races at the fourth- through eighth-grade levels on a 1.86-mile (3,000 meter) cross-country course.
Flat Rock wins county basketball title
Flat Rock Middle School is celebrating another county basketball championship as the boys team recently defeated Bennett’s Mill in a nail biter that was decided in the final seconds of the game.
Speedy teammates
Two members of Peachtree City Flash youth track team were the overall winners of the 7th annual Kedron Elementary School Heart-to-Heart 5K road race on February 12. Christian Schreckhise, 13 years old (right), won with a time of 19:40, while Josh Warren, 14, took a close second place. The boys, both students at Rising Starr Middle School, led some three dozen PTC Flash teammates on the hilly course.
Vest, Ashley, Martinez named Youth All-Americans
Junior Rank is pleased to announce that Jameson Vest, of Peachtree City and Jay Ashley and Caleb Martinez of Brooks have been selected to play for the East Team in the 2010 Junior Rank Diamond Bowl in Tempe, Ariz.
Rising Starr wins county softball title
The Rising Starr Middle School softball team won won the 2010 County Championship last Thursday with a 12-4 victory over Whitewater Middle School.
Fayette teams run at middle school meet
The 24th Peachtree Invitational Middle School Track Meet last Saturday saw the six Fayette County middle schools take on 10 other schools from Douglas and Henry Counties and Marietta.

Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls can’t claim that their six championships were “in a row”, but the 2009 Whitewater Middle School Lady Wildcats’ softball team can.
Booth snaps Whitewater win streak
The J.C. Booth Lady Warrior softball team defeated Whitewater Middle School 2-0 on Sept. 18. It was only the third loss in five years for the Lady Wildcats of Whitewater Middle. Booth’s Hannah Newton struck out 15 batters in the win, while Shelby Durden and Cassidy Williams drove in runs. “This is one of the biggest wins for the Lady Warriors that I can remember,” said head coach Jason Bingel. “I’m extremely proud of every girl on this team.
