Starr's Mill swimmers win 13th straight county title

Starr’s Mill’s swim team won its 13th consecutive county championship last Friday. Both the boys and girls finished in first place, while McIntosh’s boys and girls both placed second and Whitewater’s boys and girls placed third. Our Lady of Mercy placed fourth overall, followed by Fayette County and Sandy Creek.

The Starr’s Mill swim team competed in their first meet of the season on Saturday, Nov. 10. They swam in the Wildcat Invitational at Lundquist Aquatic Center in Clayton County.

Southern Crescent Water Polo picks up two more wins

The Southern Crescent Water Polo team won both games last weekend to improve to 5-1.

Titans swim team does well at championship meet

Over 30 members of the Summit Family YMCA’s Titans Swim Team scored high at its championship meet last month and medals were awarded at its awards banquet March 12.

Medals went to winners in first, second and third places at the meet at Marist High School with eight YMCA teams competing. Coaching the Titans this season were Joe Degennnaro, Chris Allen, Haley Dent and Donna McCondichie.

Those placing fifth or higher are:
• First Place:
Kyra Odum, girls 15-18, 50-yard breaststroke
Tyler Nigro, boys 13-14, 50-yard freestyle, boys 13-14 100-yard freestyle

SCAT swimmers win state championship

Eighteen swimmers from SCAT qualified and competed last weekend at the 14 & Under Age Group State Short Course Championship meet hosted at Georgia Tech.

Good finishes for local swimmers at state meet

McIntosh’s girls placed 18th in the Class A-AAAA state swimming championship, while Starr’s Mill placed 21st. On the boys side, Starr’s Mill placed 22nd, while McIntosh placed 44th.

McIntosh swimmers win Clayton County Winter Invitational

McIntosh High School Swim Team took 1st place overall of 17 high schools in Clayton County’s Winter Invitational on January 14th.  Starr’s Mill High School finished 2nd, Whitewater High School finished 4th, Our Lady of Mercy finished 7th, and Fayette County High School finished 15th in the meet. 

McIntosh swimmers who placed in the top 5 were:

Boys 200 Yd Medley Relay: 1st, Machmehl, Novelly, Chang, Koellner

Girls 200 Yd Medley Relay: 1st, Schmid, Smith, Bond, Barrett

Boys 200 Yd Freestyle:  4th, Theo Lefebvre

Girls 200 Yd Freestyle:  2nd, Claren Anderson

McIntosh takes third in meet at Clayton pool

McIntosh High School Swim Team placed 3rd overall of 19 high schools in the Clayton County’s “Comin’ to Town” Invitational on January 7.

Water polo team off to a good start

The Southern Crescent Water Polo team (6-1) is comprised of high school players from schools across Fayette County.
