The Starr’s Mill boys and girls swim teams each won their half of the county swimming championship and combined for the overall title.

When the two teams tangled earlier this month at the Panther Pit, the Starr’s Mill Lady Panthers knocked off the Lady Chiefs, while McIntosh’s boys picked up a much needed win. Tonight, McIntosh’s girls were looking for revenge and the boys team was hoping to help secure the second seed in the sub-region.

The region basketball tournaments are not that far away and every sub-region and region win can help a team’s seeding. For some teams, like Fayette County's Lady Tiger, each game could have a big impact on defending their AAAA state title.

The Whitewater Wildcats varsity wrestling team won the Area 3-AAAA area duals last weekend.

The Starr’s Mill’s girls’ basketball team made a triumphant return from Florida over the weekend. The team, who finished 4-17 as recently as the 2009-2010 season, won the 2011 Marlin Classic Tournament in Panama City. It was the girls’ programs first tournament win ever.

Region 3-AAAA, Sub-Region B, which features Fayette County, McIntosh, Starr’s Mill and Whitewater named their all-region team recently and all four schools are well represented on the list.
