Whitewater’s varsity softball team went 5-0 in the Up the Creek Classic tournament at McCurry Park last weekend. The Lady Wildcats defeated East Coweta (8-0), Tift County (10-3), Madison Ridge, Miss. (7-2), Jones County (5-0) and Lowndes County (11-2).

The 12U Georgia Pressure 97 won the 12U GSA Its Hot Tournament at Sweetwater Park in Austell on June 27. The team practices in Brooks.

The Home Plate Athletics - 18Under A Fastpitch Softball team won a state championship on Sunday, July 12 at Lost Mountain Park.

The Fayette Lightning defeated the Fayette Rain twice on Saturday, May 16 to capture their third championship trophy of the season.

Fayetteville’s Ashley Holcombe was recently named to the roster of the 2009 USA Softball women’s national team. Holcombe, R, is pictured with Alabama and USA women's national team teammate Brittany Rogers and Alabama coach Patrick Murphy. Murphy will also serve as an assistant coach for the USA Softball Pan American qualifier team.

The 13+ Fayette County Youth Softball (FCYSA) Cougars defeated the FCYSA Rams on Saturday, Nov. 15 by the scores of 6-2 and 4-3 to win the Fayette County 13+ End of Season Tournament.

The nominees for the 2008 All Citizen Softball team have been submitted and pored over for hours upon hours.

Whitewater and Sandy Creek’s quests for a Class AAAA state softball title came up short over the weekend and, unsurprisingly, the road to the championship ran through each other two more times.

Whitewater’s softball team won their first two matches of the Elite Eight on Thursday.
