Local 4-H Club searches for vacant space to meet

The Fayette County 4-H Air Rifle Club has just concluded it’s first season and in many ways has exceeded the expectations of it’s leaders and many others in the shooting sports community.

Roy McClain and Lisa Kelley are known very well by many in the Spalding County area and beyond for their dedication to youth shooting sports through various youth organizations and especially the local 4-H program.

Air Rifle Club forming for local youth

Fayette County Shooting Sports has announced the date of the first parents orientation and open registration which will be held on Aug. 8 at Autrey’s Armory in Fayetteville at 10 a.m. Parents interested in learning more about the programs that will be offered for youths age 9 to 15 are encouraged to attend this informative session. Locals do well at Jr. Fishing event

spor_local kids in fishing tournament.jpgDawson Lenz of Peachtree City and Jonathan Fleckenstein of Sharpsburg recently competed in the BASS Federation Nation Jr. State Classic at Highland Marina on Lake West Point. Dawson placed second in the 15-18 year old division. Jonathan placed first in the 11-14 year old division and won big fish of the tournament. He also won the 11-14 year old Casting Kids competition.

Sharpsburg teen fishes his way to fifth in the nation

On Nov. 8, Jonathan Fleckenstein, 13, of Sharpsburg competed in the Bassmaster Casting Kids National Finals in Junction City, Kansas.

Tyrone Recreation offers martial arts classes

The Tyrone Recreation Department is offering Kuk Sool martial arts classes Wednesdays and Saturdays for ages 6-16. The fee is $100 a month. Call 404-409-3755 for more information.

Fitness classes at The Bridge

The Bridge Community Center in Peachtree City is offering guided walks and runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:15-10:15 a.m. They also offer Body mechanics Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and Pilates on Thursdays from 11-11:55 a.m. Childcare is not provided for any classes. Karate championships, Dec. 5 and 6

World Champion Tony Young will host the 2008 Year End National Karate Championships on Dec. 5 and 6 at Score Indoor Sports in Fairburn. The action starts at 7 p.m. on Friday and continues at 9 am. on Saturday. There will be over 100 divisions for beginners through advanced for men, women and children and all styles are welcome.
