In what could be considered the biggest upset of the region 4-AAAAA boys basketball tournament, number one seed McIntosh High School lost to the Vikings of Northgate High School in a low scoring game 40-33.
Northgate defeated Starr's Mill last week and hosts McIntosh in a game that will likely give the winner the third seed from the sub-region. Starr's Mill hosts Whitewater and the Panthers would like to try an end a tough season on a good note.
The state volleyball semifinals take place Halloween night and five local teams are hoping for a treat. A win on Wednesday will send them to the finals in their respective classifications.

McIntosh: Bye this week
McIntosh won their homecoming game last week 23-18. Andrew Johnson rushed for two touchdowns and threw one to Trey Walters, while Mike Licitra chipped in a field goal in the win. Head coach Lee Belknap gave the entire defense credit for stepping up and making plays.
The boys All Area Lacrosse team was recently announced by the Fayette County Lacrosse Club
All Region 3-AAAA soccer teams were announced this week.
McIntosh's Gabby Seiler was selected as Region 3-AAAA Player of the Year.
Barring bad weather, the state baseball playoffs start tomorrow for five local teams.
