Local softball team 'Power's way to Orlando

spor_georgia academy power.JPGThe USSSA Road to Orlando tournament was held at the South Commons Olympic Softball Complex in Columbus, Georgia, on May 22. The 12U Blue Georgia Academy Power team won the tournament championship, scoring 61 runs and giving up only three runs against other 12U teams from Georgia and Alabama.

Fayette County residents, Alysen Febrey and Maci Townsend contributed with good performances on the mound, as well as at the plate. Jenna Pealor, Gabby Freed, Lauren DeLoach, Maysen Willard and Jordan Hamilton, all from Coweta County, made contributions at the plate and in the field as well. The tournament championship qualified the team to compete in the USSSA World Series held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida. The team will compete in the 12U "A" fastpitch softball division of the World Series during the week of July 24-31. The team is coached by Terry Pealor of Sharpsburg.
