Holt leaving Gators for B.C.

Tessah Holt, a Fayette County High School graduate who played in two consectuive AAAA state championsip games for the Lady Tigers, recently announced her decision to transfer from the University of Florida to Boston College.

She will sit out next season and will have three years of eligibility left.

Holt is a true point guard who led Fayette County to an impressive 31-1 season in 2009. She averaged 12.7 points, 7.1 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 steals as a senior. She earned All-State first team honors, Metro Naismith Winner in 2009 and selected first team All-Region team for 5-AAAA. Holt was also the MVP in the Arrowhead Tournament, the St. Pius X Christmas Tournament and was named to the All-Tournament team for the Crescent Bank Classic in South Carolina.

While at Florida, Holt played in 29 games, averaged 6.6 minutes per game, one rebound and 1.3 points per game. Holt did shoot 83.3 percent from the free throw line in her first season.

“Tessah is a vocal leader and floor general who loves to create and distribute the ball," said Eagles head coach Sylvia Crawley. “Our post players will love her because they will not have to work so hard to make plays with their back to the basket. Tessah is an up-tempo guard who likes to press defensively, and who understands how to break presses as well."
