PTC Rebels make Little League softball shootout
The first girls Little League Softball team from Fayette County won three straight and heads to Clayton, Ga. this weekend to take on Georgia and North Carolina teams in a Little League Softball shoot out.
The Senior League PTC Rebels pulled out a thrilling 7–6 victory over the previously undefeated Spaulding County Lady Red Dogs from Griffin, Ga. after an 8th inning international tie breaker. It was the third straight win for the Rebels against District 4 opponents. Madeline Conner pitched the first four innings, giving up three runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
Samantha Laing pitched the remaining four innings giving up three hits and three runs with seven strikeouts. Samantha Laing also had the game winning hit in the 8th inning scoring Julia Dunlap who previously singled for the winning run.
This is also the first team from Fayette County to join the Softball Little League series. Coach Lee Conner told the girls after the game that this was a huge win for the city of Peachtree City and Fayette County.
“I’m proud to be your coach and every girl on this team is contributing,” Conner said.
The Rebels will participate in the District 7 Little League Softball Tournament this weekend. The tournament will feature 12 teams across the states of Georgia and North Carolina.
