Number of good finishes at Sandy Creek tri-meet
Sandy Creek hosted a tri-meet last Wednesday with Starr’s Mill and MLK and both local schools nabbed a number of top finishes.
On the boys side, Sandy Creek’s Bruce Truitt had two first place finishes - one in the long jump (21’5.5”) and one in the 400 meter dash (49.72). Other first place finishers for the Patriots were Bruce Dukes in the 100 meter dash (11.46), Ryan Hamill in the 3,200 meter run (11:11.23), the 4x100 meter relay team, Lennie Foster in the high jump (5’8”), Jared Johnson in the shot put (44’5.5”) and Zachary Booker in the Discus (113’2”).
Starr’s Mill’s first place finishers were Matt King in the 200 meter dash (22.95), Warren Enriquez in the 1,600 meter run (4:39.32), the 4x400 meter relay team, Richard Berthold in the pole vault (11’6’) and Jeff Greene in the triple jump (42’6.75”).
On the girls side, Sandy Creek’s Kaitlyn Taylor and Khaja Mapp both had two first place finishes. Taylor won the long jump (16’9”) and triple jump (35’4”), while Mapp won the shot put (29’2”) and discus (92’7”). Other first place finishers for Sandy Creek were Sushannie Blake in the 100 meter dash (12.50) and Ariel Truitt in the 100 meter hurdles (16.31).
First place finishers for the Lady Panthers were Kaitlyn Oakley in the 1,600 meter run (6:36.63), Nicole Chrzanowski in the 3,200 meter run (12:40.30), Natalie Ott in the 300 meter hurdles (48.53), Molly Musselwhite in the high jump (5’) and Caroline Evans in the pole vault (10’).
The girls 5-AAAA region championships start today at Sandy Creek. The boys region championships start Saturday at Sandy Creek.
