Georgia Academy hosts first spring training for softball
On Friday, March 5, elite fastpitch softball players from Fayette County and from all over the state of Georgia and Alabama, gathered at Peachtree City Meade Fields for the first annual Spring Training of the Georgia Academy Power softball organization.
The five teams of the Georgia Academy Power consists of class A softball players from ages 10 to 14. Players trained Friday through Sunday with their teams receiving instruction from coaches and professionals such as Ryan Christenson, former major league baseball player.
2010 Spring training kicks off the first season of the Georgia Academy Power. Teams will be competing in tournaments throughout the Southeast with the goal of qualifying for ASA Nationals later this summer.
Georgia Academy Softball Club, directed by Coach Ernie Yarbrough, provides student/athletes with the physical and mental tools to compete on the field and to develop into good citizens off the field. Each player has the opportunity to develop superior individual fastpitch softball skills and enhanced mental preparation through the teaching of success-proven fundamentals and game competition. Georgia Academy is based in Peachtree City.
