Patriots shutout Panthers, War Eagles now 6-0
Sandy Creek took on Starr’s Mill on Monday afternoon and won 6-0. It was the second straight game that the Panthers had been held to no runs.
The Patriots got a dominating pitching performance from Aaron Warren (six innings, 15 strikeouts, one hit) and got some timely hits from Joey Munson (three RBIs), Chris Triplett (two doubles), Andrew Toles and Ricky Harris.
Sandy Creek (3-1) hosts Douglas County today at 5:30 p.m., while Starr’s Mill (1-2) hosts Tri-Cities.
Fayette County (1-5) picked up their first win on Friday, a 10-0 shellacking of Mays behind two home runs from Niko Goodrum and one from Tago Smith. The Tigers then lost two in a row, falling to Harris County 13-4 on Saturday and losing to Whitewater 15-4 in five innings on Monday. Whitewater (2-1) defeated Douglas County 12-1 in six innings on Friday. They will host Villa Rica today at 5:30 p.m., while the Tigers host Lithia Springs.
The McIntosh Chiefs (1-2) lost to Alexander 7-2 on Friday. It was their second straight loss. They were scheduled to host LaGrange yesterday and are due to face Starr’s Mill on Friday at 7 p.m.
In Class A, Landmark Christian improved to 6-0 with an 11-6 win over Chapel Hill on Monday. Kyle Wren went 4-for-5 with two doubles and three runs scored, while Jonathan Roberts and Colby Wren each had two hits. Eric Burdette picked up the win, pitching four innings of relief, allowing one hit and striking out five. The win marked the fourth time this season the War Eagles have scored in double-digits. They are scheduled to play at Providence Christian tomorrow and host Bremen on Friday.
Our Lady of Mercy (0-2) lost to Paideia 17-2 in five innings on Saturday. The Bobcats were scheduled to host Mt. Zion, Carroll yesterday and will host Fellowship Christian tomorrow.
