Soccer teams earn more region wins this week

Starr’s Mill’s varsity boys soccer team (4-0-1) picked up two more wins this week, defeating East Coweta 4-1 on Wednesday and beating Lithia Springs 4-2 on Thursday.

Derek Williams, Kevin O’Connor, Richard Myers and Andrew Pritchard all got goals against the Indians, while Preston Gayton, Justin Ross, Braeden Snook and Williams scored against Lithia. The Lady Panthers (4-1) lost to East Coweta 2-1 on Wednesday. Both the Starr’s Mill boys and girls soccer teams are ranked second in Class AAAA. They will play at Tri Cities next Tuesday and at home against Alexander on Friday. The Lady Panthers will host Newnan at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Whitewater’s boys and girls took on Tri Cities and Northgate this week. The girls (4-0), ranked first in Class AAAA, beat Tri Cities 11-0 and Northgate 2-0. Erin Emerson scored both goals against the Lady Vikings. The boys (2-2), ranked ninth, lost to Tri Cities in penalty kicks (2-1) and beat Northgate 2-0. Whitewater will play at Douglas County Tuesday.

Sandy Creek’s girls defeated Fayette County 7-1 on Wednesday. They will play at McIntosh on Tuesday after the boys game at 5:30 p.m.

McIntosh’s boys (3-0), ranked first in AAAA, will host Tucker today at 3:30 p.m. The Lady Chiefs (2-1), ranked fifth, are off until Tuesday.
