SCAT takes second at U-14 state championships
Southern Crescent Aquatic Team had their largest group ever qualify for the 14-under State Championship.
SCAT’s 19 qualifiers were Courtney Bond, Tyler Burrell, Whitney Carroll, Johanna Goldblatt, Rachel Goldblatt, John Michael Hall, Karley Mason, Austin Palmer, Nicholas Palmer, Sarah Phinney, Alexandra Schmid, Samantha Schmid, Jordan Schumacher, Robbie Scott, Paisley Snowden, Alex Stephens, Jordan Watson, Soren Wood and Nick Wukovits.
The 14-U State Meet was held February 26-28 in Savannah, GA. SCAT had numerous swimmers placing in the top sixteen of their events. Those swimmers were Tyler Burrell, Johanna Goldblatt, Austin Palmer and Samantha Schmid. In addition, Austin Palmer was the state champion in the 200 Breaststroke and Samantha Schmid was 4th place high point winner.
The swimmers struggled the first day of the meet after having to miss water practice for several days prior to the meet due to a pool issue, but they rallied on the last two days and Southern Crescent finished second in their division (Small Team). The SCAT coaches feel it was an extremely successful championship meet for these talented swimmers.
