Region 5-AAAA basketball tournament schedule announced

McIntosh High School will be the site of the region 5-AAAA boys and girls basketball tournament next week and the competition will be fierce.

The boys tournament starts on Monday at 4 p.m. but local teams don’t start playing until McIntosh meets the winner of the play-in game between Whitewater and Doulgas County at 5:30 p.m. The winner of this game meets Banneker on Wednesday at 4 p.m. At 7 p.m. on Monday, Starr’s Mill takes n Northgate and the winner meets Fayette County at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The final game of Monday will see Sandy Creek take on Alexander and the winner meets Mays at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Starr’s Mill’s girls are in the play-in game against Banneker this weekend and the winner will meet Sandy Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with the winner meeting McIntosh at 4 p.m. on Thursday. Whitewater’s girls meet Northgate at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday and the winner takes on Fayette County at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Semifinals featuring both boys and girls teams start at 4 p.m. Friday and the finals will be played at 6 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
