Five Fayette high schools in top seven of area wrestling tournament

_Vorwald as he wins over Wild-ALX.jpgThe area 5-AAAA wrestling tournament took place over the weekend and the teams from Fayette County did well. Whitewater placed second behind Alexander and head of Fayette County (3rd), Sandy Creek (4th), McIntosh (6th) and Starr’s Mill (7th). Overall, 32 wrestlers from the five schools have qualified for the AAAA state sectionals at Upson Lee this weekend.

Those who made the top four in their weight class and qualified for the tournament are:

103 - Daniel Ward, Fayette County, 2nd; Trent Shallow, McIntosh, 3rd; Andrew Parsons, Whitewater, 4th

112 - Dell Ressl, Starr’s Mill, 1st; Nic Karettis, Sandy Creek, 3rd; Chris Chennault, Fayette County, 4th

119 - Austin Penland, Whitewater, 2nd; Matt Perry, McIntosh, 3rd; Lyle, Fayette County, 4th

125 - Alex Kidd, Whitewater, 1st; Blake Axleberg, Fayette County, 3rd; Terrell Jones, Starr’s Mill, 4th

130 - Dylan Schouw, Sandy Creek, 1st; Jesse Cook, Whitewater, 2nd; Hale Lee, Starr’s Mill, 3rd

135 - John Alexander, Whitewater, 1st; Anthony Taijeron-John, Sandy Creek, 2nd

140 - Rhodes, Whitewater, 3rd; Bradley Holmes, Sandy Creek, 4th

145 - Austin Vorwald, Fayette County, 1st; Matt Lein, McIntosh, 3rd

152 - Dylan Tanner, Fayette County, 1st; Rickey Oskey, McIntosh, 2nd; Josh Burns, Whitewater, 3rd
