Tigers go 2-2 at state duals

Fayette County lost to Marist 33-31 in the Class AAAA state duals on Friday, but bounced back with a few wins.

Winners for the Tigers against Marist were Daniel Ward (103), Chris Chennault (112), Blake Axelberg (125), Austin Pardee (130), Xavier Bennett (140), Austin Vorwald (145) and Dylan Tanner (152).

The Tigers followed the loss to Marist with wins over Hardaway (41-32) and South Effingham (41-21). Fayette wrestlers who won against Hardaway were Ward, Chennault, Jeffrey Lyle (119), Axelberg, Josh Sanchez (135), Vorwald, Tanner and Martinek Adamson (285). Ward, Chennault, Lyle, Pardee, William McMahan (135), Sanchez (140), Vorwald, Tanner, Shyheem Williams (171) and Adamson all won against South Effingham.

Fayette County closed out the duals with a 49-17 loss to Cass. Ward, Chennault, Vorwald and Tanner were the only local winners in the match. All four wrestlers were 4-0 in the state duals meet.
