Meet the 2009 Little League World Series Softball Champions, Jan. 9

The 2009 Little League World Series Softball Champions from Warner Robins, Ga, will be introduced and congratulated during the Little League State Leadership Conference, Saturday, Jan. 9, at Glendalough Manor in Tyrone.  The team will be available from 12:30 – 2 p.m.  The public is invited to share in the congratulations of the team.

On August 19, 2009, in Portland, Oregon, the Warner Robins American Little League softball team defeated the Southwest team out of Crawford Texas in four innings 14-2 in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPN to become the 2009 Little League Softball World Series Champions. They had to win three straight tournament titles on the district, state and regional levels, including sixteen individual game victories for the opportunity of a lifetime to play for the Little League Softball World Series Championship. The team finished with a 17-1 overall record. Since returning home they have made many  honorary guest  appearances:  Georgia Tech Football Game, University of Georgia Football game, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, The Governor’s Picnic to name a few. They also have been involved with the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, Make-A-Wish, The Macon Children’s Hospital, The Red Cross Celebrity Slam and other charitable events.

Warner Robins American Little League also sent their Little League Baseball team to the 2009 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.   The team lost to the West in the Semi Final round, 11-10, falling just 2 runs short of playing for the World Series Championship. Warner Robins American Little League was the 2007 Little League World Series Baseball Champions.

Little League Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest and most respected youth sports organization. With players in every U.S. state and more than 70 other countries, the program is led by more than 1 million adult volunteers. It serves children ages 5 through 18, including children with physical and mental disabilities (Challenger Division) and children in urban areas (Little League Urban Initiative).
