JV Chiefs earn six medals at Alexander wrestling meet
The McIntosh Junior Varsity wrestling team participated in the Alexander High School JV Tournament last Saturday.
Coach James Fleckenstein brought 22 wrestlers to the tournament that included teams from perennially powerful programs such as McEachern, Cass, Bremen, Whitewater, Fayette County and Marist.
At the end of the day, after numerous matches and some great competition, McIntosh wrestlers earned six medals to include Anderson Kendrick who placed first at 152 pounds, Malcolm Forte 2nd place at 215 pounds, Duncan Hervey 3rd at 103 pounds, Matt Nastasi, 3rd place at 112, Patrick Scott, 3rd at 189 pounds, and Sebastian Ferguson who also finished 3rd at 189 pounds (high school rules limit a wrestler to five matches in one day and both had reached their five match limit). It was a great effort by all the McIntosh wrestlers.
McIntosh JV wrestlers also competed against Sandy Creek, Banneker and Upson-Lee JV wrestlers at McIntosh this past Tuesday night gaining invaluable experience for the rest of the season. Their next meet will be Saturday, Dec.19 at Pike County.
