McIntosh’s Lady Chiefs defeated East Coweta 49-37 Saturday.

Leading the way for McIntosh were Laura Higgason with 19 points and five rebounds and Gabby Seiler with 17 points, five steals and three rebounds. Denise Hinton added eight rebounds in the win, while Shelbi Sims and Elle Saunders each added seven. The McIntosh boys lost to the Indians 86-79 in overtime. The Starr’s Mill High School basketball teams started off the season with impressive victories on Saturday at the Panther Pit. The girls team beat North Springs 36-30 behind Molly Musselwhite’s nine points. The boys also defeated North Springs 81-64 on Saturday.

For the boys team, Hadyn Barnes led the team with 17 points.  Mike Voso added 12 points and 11 rebounds and Wade Stock had 16 points, nine assists, and six rebounds. The teams return to action Saturday against Whitewater at home.

Whitewater will play at Our Lady of Mercy on Friday, while Landmark Christian will host Excel Christian on Friday.

Perhaps the biggest game before the Thanksgiving break will take place Saturday when Sandy Creek’s boys and girls play at Fayette County. The girls game starts at 6 p.m. and the boys are scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
