Whitewater softball team three away from state title

Whitewater’s varsity softball team is still in the hunt for a state title.

The Lady Wildcats topped Jones County 4-3 in 10 innings on Friday afternoon and followed it with a 2-0 win over Sequoyah. Whitewater will kick off Saturday with a 9:45 a.m. game with Northwest Whitefield, which lost to Marist 1-0. A win puts them in the final against Marist at 11:45 a.m. and they would have to win at 11:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. to capture the title.
