Losing It, Flu Edition
I was supposed to attend a class last Friday at the World Gym on Georgia Hwy 74. It didn’t happen because I was bed-ridden at home, contagious with H1N1...the swine flu.
How does one get swine flu? If you’re interested in contracting the disease, I recommend being around someone who has it or can bring it home. For me, it was my 18 month old daughter. She was home sick with the virus two weeks before I got the fever that sent me to the doctor. Once inside the doctor’s office, they swabbed the inside of my left nostril with a sharp, pointy thing. It made me think about how the ancient Egyptians used to pull the brains of their mummies out through their nostrils. (I read too much).
How bad was the swine flu? Well, not too bad. The Tamiflu made me sick the first day and I am still working on getting my energy level back, but mostly I spent my days watching “Lost” on DVD and trying to choke down some food and beverages.
I did lose weight though - nothing official until my next official weigh in this Sunday - and could be very close to my goal of under 200 if things hold and continue to progress. And that’s with eating all sorts of nonsense just because it tasted good and I needed to eat what I could to get my strength back up. Now that I am back at work and off the Tamiflu, I am back to my eating healthy habits. It’s not fun, but it never really was. Still, I want to use the flu to my advantage and try to push the weight loss further.
My next class will be this Sunday and then I think there will only be one more left. Pencil me in for a Bison Burger at Ted's after that last weigh in.
