Whitewater goes 5-0 in Up the Creek Classic

Whitewater’s varsity softball team went 5-0 in the Up the Creek Classic tournament at McCurry Park last weekend. The Lady Wildcats defeated East Coweta (8-0), Tift County (10-3), Madison Ridge, Miss. (7-2), Jones County (5-0) and Lowndes County (11-2).

Whitney Toler earned the wins against East Coweta, Madison Ridge and Lowndes, striking out a total of 16 batters and allowing five hits. Kristy Cook got the wins against Tift County and Jones County, striking out 13 batters and allowing seven hits. Hitters that led the way for Whitewater were McKenzie Woody, Haley Richards, Kaitlyn Johnson and Hayden Bartlett.
Sandy Creek went 3-2 in the tournament. Head coach Lisa Pearce stated pitchers Hailey Williams and Mallory Muncher did fantastic, while Kayla Awbrey hit very well. Other players of note for the Lady Patriots were Andrea Dalton, Alice Boone and Aubrey Folds.
Sandy Creek will play at Newnan today at 5:30 p.m., while Whitewater will host Luella tomorrow at 6 p.m.
