Summit Family YMCA Titans celebrate a successful summer swimming season
The Summit Family YMCA Titans swim team held their end of the season banquet on Aug. 1. The team voiced their appreciation for corporate donations from BJ’s, Walmart and La Hacienda and are looking forward to many more sponsors for the upcoming season.
BJ’s donated $50, La Hacienda donated chips and salsa which the 100 plus attendees enjoyed and Walmart gave each of the team’s 13 state qualifiers a $10 gift card.
Awards given out at the banquet were as follows:
Goggle award: Ian Gaude and Chandler Hart
Most Helpful: Shelby Stillwell
Most Improved Flip Turn: Erin Mitchell and Zach Kula
Most Improved Starts: Kristina Kula and Hayley Holmes
Most Prepared For Practice: Austin Schmidt and Meredith Yarbrough
Creator of our Team Chant: Ariel Palmer and Kelsey Taliafero
Most Improved Swimmer: Jaime Gallucci and Natalie Dyer
Best Attendance:Ariel Palmer and Zach Kula
Most Improved Strokes: Natalie Dyer and Ramsey Rutherford
Hardest Working Swimmer: Meredith Yarbrough
Best Attitude: Ella Devers and Gray Gaude
Swimmer of the Summer: Kristina Kula, Russell Durrance and Marilyn Naughton
Highest Points: Olivia Decker and Christina Gallucci tied for the 13 and over girls, Zach Kula for the 13 and over boys, Shelby Stillwell for the 12 and under girls and Riley Scruggs for the 12 and under boys.
The new season is under way and the team has had over 10 new kids show up the first day! Tryouts are the Aug. 17 and 18 from 5-7 p.m.
Those interested in joining the team need to call Coach Buzz at 770-254-5927 to schedule a time.
The parent meeting for the fall season for all parents is the Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. and there will be a swim shop that night from 4-6 p.m. to purchase any equipment and new suits.
