Peachtree City 7U Mudcats (55-10), lost to Rockdale in the finals of the Georgia USSSA Sate Championship 15-4.  The Mudcats rallied in the loser’s bracket defeating the nationally thirrd ranked Georgia Raiders (60-11) by a score of 11-2, placing them in the finals of the 7U State Championship.

The Mudcats needed to beat the Rockdale Raptors twice to win the championship in the double elimination format but only mustered to win the first game 13-8 before fading in the championship game under the scorching Georgia sun.

“The boys fought hard in extreme conditions playing four games on Sunday in the sizzling heat” said Coach Tommy Lawson.  “Rockdale played hard and was a gutsy team that deserved to win.  We made a few costly errors on defense along with a few base running blunders we normally do not make.  Regardless, our boys were thrilled to death with the opportunity and a chance to represent Peachtree City.  Peachtree City should be very proud”.

The Mudcats belted 23 homeruns led by Jack Bukowski who had seven bombs.  Jack Brown and Cam Lyons each had three a piece as Dane Kinamon, Calin Smith, Houston Lawson, Hunter Lawson and Burton Hahn contributed with two.
