Lightning finishes strong season

By Michael Boylan - Posted on 30 June 2009

The Fayette Lightning defeated the Fayette Rain twice on Saturday, May 16 to capture their third championship trophy of the season.

The Lightning took first place in the Fayette/Coweta Clash tournament held during the mid-season break and finished the season with a perfect 15-0 overall record (10-0 league record) to claim the regular season championship for the 13+ age division.  The Lightning suffered only one loss during the season to a very good Fayette Rain team during the double elimination end of season tournament.

The Lightning came back strong on the final day of the tournament to win three back-to-back-to-back games to bring home the championship.  They defeated the Peachtree City Bandits 6-0 and then beat the Fayette Rain 5-3 and 8-5. They finished the season with a very impressive 20-1 record.
