McIntosh cheerleaders work with Packer cheerleaders
Volunteers from McIntosh High School’s Varsity and Junior Varsity Football cheerleading teams donated a weekend of spirit and hard work to at the Peachtree City Packer Cheerleading camp.
The four volunteers taught their younger counterparts cheer technique, stunting and what it means to be positive roll models.
“The work that these girls have put in to this camp has been amazing,” said Packer Cheerleading Board President and McIntosh JV coach Fonda Brooks-Totten. “These girls have taken their love of cheerleading and used it to not only teach the younger kids how to be a cheerleader, but also that it’s important to give back to the community. Our McIntosh girls spent the weekend showing our Packer cheerleaders that the emphasis in the Packer organization is on the children, just as our emphasis at McIntosh is on the welfare of the student athlete.”
The McIntosh cheerleaders (Ashley Carlisle, Rhianon Dienhart, Cooper Hudson and Erica Sweet) were happy to pass along there love of the sport and enthusiasm for the community.
“I’ve been cheering for a long time and think it’s a really fun and important sport,” said McIntosh Cheerleader Ashley Carlisle. “I wanted to share my experience with the younger kids, and show them that a few hours of work can really make a difference in the community.”
The high school cheer leaders were a mix of varsity and junior varsity athletes, some of whom had their first exposure to cheerleading in the Packer organization.
“We’ve had some wonderful girls come up through the Packers” added Brooks-Totten, “it’s great to see them out here giving back to the program”
