State tennis tournament update - three locals still standing

McIntosh and Starr’s Mill’s boys tennis teams have advanced to the Class AAAA quarterfinals.

The Chiefs defeated Murray County 5-0 on Wednesday, while the Panthers shutout Hillgrove 4-0. Starr’s Mill will play at Heritage, Conyers on Tuesday, while the Chiefs will play at Marist.

The Starr’s Mill girls have also advanced to the state quarterfinals. The Lady Panthers will meet Marist Wednesday. They defeated Dalton 4-1 in their second round game. McIntosh’s Lady Chiefs advanced to the state quarterfinals and faced Heritage, Conyers and lost 3-2.

The state semifinals and finals will take place Friday at Clayton County International Park.
