Local players fill all region soccer teams

The votes from region 5-AAAA’s soccer coaches are in and local players on the varsity boys and girls teams are all over the lists.

On the girls’ side, Whitewater’s Erin Emerson is the player of the year, while Starr’s Mill coach Deanise Myers and Northgate’s Mike Berry share Coach of the Year honors.

Local girls on the first team are:
• Goalkeeper - Victoria Hopkins, Starr’s Mill

• Defense - Katrina Frost (Starr’s Mill), Devin Frye (Northgate), Lacey McGowan (Whitewater), Erin Pincomber (McIntosh), Jewelia Strickland (Whitewater).

• Midfield - Emily Culbreth (Whitewater), Sarah Daane (Northgate), Susan Lotychewski (Northgate), Mandy McCalla (Starr’s Mill) Kerri Reid (McIntosh)

• Forward - Carlie Banks (Starr’s Mill), Erin Emerson (Whitewater), Katie Taylor (Northgate).

On the boys side, McIntosh’s David Fratto and Starr’s Mill Danny Hojaij shared region player of the year honors, while Alexander coach Chris Small was tapped region coach of the year.
