T.M.A. sending six to national meet in Austin
T.M.A Olympic Taekwondo School in Fayetteville performed exceptionally well in the 2009 Martial Arts Festival. Gold medal winners for the school in sparring were Reginald D.
Harris, Eduardo Naranjo, Matthew Todd, Lizzie Todd, John Naranjo, Javaunne Powell, David Collins, Darren Mitchell, Simone N. Harris, Angel Ramos and Immanuel Larry. Silver medal winners in sparring were Tyler Frazier, Sonia Sarmiento and Edgar Sarmiento.
In the 2009 National Qualifier in Kissimmee, Fla., six athletes from T.M.A. competed and qualified for the championships in Austin, Texas later this year.
Simone Harris, 8, took silver in forms and had nobody in her weight division in sparring.
Others who finished with gold medals in sparring were
David “Super Fly” Collins, 9, Sonia Sarmiento, 10, Darren “The Punisher” Mitchell, 10. Jasmine “The Eliminator” Clark, 11 and Jauvanne Powell, 16.
T.M.A. is led by head coach Eid Koja and assistant coach Master Aladdin E. Koja. Their next meet will be the Georgia Games Taekwondo Championships, May 2 in Marietta.
