Baseball teams are back from the break

Spring break is over and the local baseball teams are heading into the home stretch.

Fayette County (6-8) plays at Alexander tonight and will host Northgate at 7 p.m. on Friday. They will take on Starr’s Mill on the road next Monday.

Starr’s Mill (12-4) went 4-2 in a tournament in South Carolina last week. The Panthers lost to Potomac Falls, Virg. 8-7 in nine innings last Tuesday and followed it with wins over Summerville S.C. (11-1), Westfield, Virg. (8-7) and Stratford S.C. (5-4) before closing out the tournament with a 10-6 loss to Flanagan, Fla. Starr’s Mill will play at Lithia Springs today and at Northgate tomorrow at 5 p.m. They will host Whitewater at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Whitewater (12-4) went 3-1 in the Tate Aggie Classic in Pensacola, Fla. The Wildcats opened with a 9-8 win over Columbia High School, Fla., lost 4-3 to Beech High School out of Tennessee, defeated Tate High School of Florida 4-3 and beat Central Privat high School from Louisiana 12-1. Whitewater will play at Mays today and will play at McIntosh at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

McIntosh (7-8) will play at Villa Rica today and will play at Sandy Creek Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Sandy Creek (12-5) split a doubleheader with Woodstock at Middle Georgia College last Wednesday. The Patriots lost the first game 8-5 but won the second game 7-5. Sandy Creek will play at Banneker today and will host Landmark Christian on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Landmark (11-3-1) hosted Walker yesterday after the paper went to press and will play at Pace Academy on Friday.

Our Lady of Mercy (4-11) hosted Whitefield Academy yesterday and will play at Avondale tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. and will host Holy Innocents on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
