spor_ippon judo wins ptc tournament.jpegFor the third consecutive time, the Ippon Judo team won its own tournament in a dominating fashion almost doubling the points of second place Lavonia Judo. To make it even more impressive Ippon Judo had only seven competitors competing while some teams entered as many as 12 to 14.

The competition was held March 21 at the Kedron Center in Peachtree City.

“No one led the way today they all led the way,” According to Coach Sensei Dave Wojcik. “Usually we have one that stands out and carries the team. Not today, all competitors carved a path and left a trail.”

Five year old Jason Wojcik went 3-0 on the day winning all by (Ippon) instant win capturing gold in the 5-6 division. Both 10-year-old Josh Briggs and 8-year-old Max Mcdevitt won gold, silver and bronze medals, Max sported a 7-2 record on the day.
Cameron Prevost (9) chipped in with a silver and bronze medal. Derek Wojcik. 16, won two open black belt divisions, his own weight and a weight higher. Derek also went undefeated on the day.

If there was one that stood out a bit more than the others on this day it was 14-year-old 8th grader Cody Wojcik. Cody was injured coming in to the tournament but wanted to give it a go. For his trouble Cody walked away with three gold medals and won every match.

Cody competed in the 13-14 lightweight group, the 13-14 medium group and the 15-16 light group taking three golds and securing the team win for Ippon Judo.

Ippon Judo is located in Tyrone, Ga. and offers Judo, Jujitsu and Wrestling.
