Wins and losses for baseball teams as region play starts
The region schedule has started for the local baseball teams and if the early part of the season is any indication, the games are going to be very competitive.
Fayette County (3-2) topped Mays 11-1 on Friday. It was their third straight win and third consecutive game in which they scored 11 runs or more. Whitewater (3-0) snapped the Tigers’ winning streak on Monday with a 14-4 win in five innings. The Wildcats defeated Douglas County 13-0 in five innings on Friday.
Fayette County will play at Lithia Springs today at 5:30 p.m. and will host Griffin at 7 p.m. on Friday. Whitewater will play at Villa Rica today at 5:30 p.m. and will play at Northgate on Friday at 7 p.m.
Sandy Creek (3-2) defeated Lithia Springs on Friday and lost to Starr’s Mill (2-0) 11-6 on Monday.
Starr’s Mill started their season with an 11-1 win over Villa Rica last Friday. Danny Beadling was the winning pitcher for the Panthers with 11 strikeouts and one hit. Myles Jaye and Ken Jackson both had two hits and Kevin Koziol walked three times and scored two runs.
In the win over Sandy Creek. Starr’s Mill was led by Drew Johnson who struck out 10 batters over five and 2/3 innings. Jesse Baker and David Norman both had three hits and Terrion Pope homered. The Patriots will play Douglas County today at 5:30 p.m. and will play at Whitewater next Monday at 5:30 p.m. Starr’s Mill will host McIntosh Friday at 7 p.m.
McIntosh (1-2) lost to Alexander on Friday 6-4. David Pauley went 3-for-4, while Brandon Hannon went 2-for-3. On Monday, the Chiefs lost to Newnan 6-5. McIntosh will play at Banneker today at 5:30 p.m. and will host Troup on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Landmark Christian (3-1-1) defeated Bremen 5-3 last Thursday but lost to Chapel Hill 10-7 on Saturday. The War Eagles were scheduled to play at Forest Park yesterday after the paper went to press. They will host Providence Christian at 5 p.m. today.
Our Lady of Mercy (2-2) defeated Paideia 9-4 in five innings last Thursday and split a doubleheader with Fellowship Christian on Saturday. They lost the first game 15-1 but won the second game 10-4. The Bobcats faced Mt. Zion, Carroll yesterday and will host North Cobb Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
