Number of local baseball teams start season with wins

The weather messed with the baseball schedule a little bit last weekend and early this week, but more games got underway this week.

McIntosh (1-0) defeated McEachern on Wednesday 7-2. Michael Morales was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, while Dwight Smith went 2-for-4 with a double, a two run home run and 4 RBI on the day. Scott MacGillivray also had two hits, while Marcus Burk was the winning pitcher.

The Chiefs will play at Newnan on Monday.

Starr’s Mill was scheduled to host Villa Rica on Friday. They will play at Sandy Creek (2-0) on Monday at 5:30 p.m. The Patriots have been off since their 4-3 win over East Coweta in eight innings on Feb. 25.

Fayette County (2-1) played Jonesboro twice and won both games, winning 14-4 in six innings on Wednesday and 14-11 on Thursday. The Tigers will play at Whitewater on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Whitewater (1-0) defeated East Coweta 7-4 on Thursday.

In Class A, Landmark Christian (3-0-1) beat Douglas County 13-3 in six innings on Wednesday and followed it with a 5-3 win over Bremen on Thursday. The War Eagles host Chapel Hill today at 2 p.m. and will play at Forest Park on Tuesday.

Our Lady of Mercy (0-1) lost to Mt. Zion, Carroll 13-2 in five innings on Tuesday. They will host Mt. Zion, Carroll on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
