Three local wrestlers are state champs, Whitewater places second overall
Whitewater’s wrestling team placed second in the AAAA state wrestling tournament over the weekend, while Fayette County placed seventh.
Local teams outside of the top 10 were Sandy Creek in 12th, McIntosh in 29th and Starr’s Mill in 35th.
State champions from the local schools were:
160 - Chase Penland, Whitewater
171 - Derek Wojcik, Sandy Creek
215 - Patrick Blankenbeker, Fayette County
State placers were:

119 - Joel Carnow, Fayette County, 4th, Michael Escarra, Whitewater, 6th
152 - Kenny Kellerman, Whitewater, 2nd
160 - Julian Holmes, Sandy Creek, 2nd Travis Hearn, Starr’s Mill, 5th
