The Starr's Mill High School varsity competition cheerleaders won their first cheerleading competition last Saturday at Sandy Creek High School.

The Starr's Mill Pathers faced tough competition from Whitewater, McIntosh, and Ola High School among other Class AAAA schools. The Panthers' routine was about as close to flawless as they come, and showed the dedication and passion of these athletes. It was no surprise when Starr's Mill received the trophy followed by McIntosh and Ola, and then went on to be named "Grand Champions" of the Competition. The Starr's Mill High School Competition Cheerleaders are coached by Mandy Burnett, and team captains include seniors Molly Hughes, Ariele D'Emidio, and Casey Hill. On Saturday, Oct. 4, the Starr's Mill Panthers will host their Cheerleading Invitational at Starr's Mill High School. The competition starts at 1 p.m., and tickets can be purchased at the door.
