Whitewater wins area wrestling championships

McIntosh hosted the area 5-AAAA wrestling tournament over the weekend and a number of local wrestlers qualified for the state sectionals this weekend. The top two teams were Whitewater, which won the meet and has recently won the state duals and a tournament at their school, and Fayette County.

Individuals who qualified for the AAAA East sectional tournament at Upson-Lee High School are:

103 - Dell Ressl, Starr’s Mill, 2nd, Trent Shallow, McIntosh, 3rd, Andrew Parsons, Whitewater, 4th (Chennault of Fayette goes to sectional as true 4th).

112 - Ali Khan, Fayette, 1st, Alex Kidd, Whitewater, 2nd, Terrell Jones, Starr’s Mill, 4th

119 - Joel Carnow, Fayette, 1st, Michael Escarra, Whitewater, 2nd, Matthew Perry, McIntosh, 3rd

125 - Stephen Plante, Starr’s Mill, 1st, Derek Morrow, Whitewater, 2nd, Anthony Taijeron-John , Sandy Creek, 3rd, Austin Pardee, Fayette, 4th

130 - John Alexander, Whitewater, 2nd, Hale Lee, Starr’s Mill, 3rd, Epps Green, Fayette, 4th
