Braves should take pass on Burnett

By John Munford - Posted on 10 December 2008

I read today where the Atlanta Braves may take a pass on John Smoltz should they sign A.J. Burnett.

Say it ain't so!!!

Granted he's not the most reliable health-wise. But when he's healthy there's no one better. And when he trots in from the 'pen to shut em down in the ninth, The Ted goes nuts in a way that you just never see any more.

Call me sentimental, but the idea of Smoltzie in any other uniform makes me shudder.

Maybe they should take Smoltz and pull a Roger Clemens, shutting him down until the All-Star break. That way he'd have less a chance of breaking down before the playoffs.

I'd much rather have Smoltz any day over Burnett no matter how talented (and expensive) he is. There's no one I'd rather have in a pivotal game facing the heart of the opponents' order.

Heck, let's make this my Christmas wish: keep Smoltz.

The NFL season can sometimes contain many surprises and upsets, but what does this year have in store for us cheap wedding dresses? Will another team tie the amazing record of 18-0 as the Pats did in 2007? Will Tony Romo pull his team together and make a strong playoff run? That is why I am here today.
This year, no team really stands out as being extremely spectacular. It seems like anyone’s game to win the Super Bowl, although the Steelers do look somewhat spectacular, but it is just the beginning of the season. The Cowboys have remained out of the news for a while mens wedding bands, at least for the locker room drama, and seem to be stepping up their game a bit from last year. Arizona looks alright this year, but I really do not expect them to make another Super Bowl run. The race will be very close, but my pick for the Super Bowl champions is the Dallas Cowboys. I know what your thinking, is this guy dumb? I honestly believe that the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl and here’s why.
First of all, they have no more TO to deal with. Although TO is an astounding receiver, he was too greedy and boastful. He created nothing but drama and just hurt the team as a whole. To him, the whole team was about him. He expected Romo to throw him the ball on every play wedding programs, which would never contribute to a Super Bowl championship. Next reason is that Tony Romo is no longer with Jessica Simpson. The media was all over this couple, and Romo had many distractions. If you’re a guy, you know exactly how a member of the opposite sex can distract you. I think Romo was getting a little too caught up on his relationship, that he was not able to perform to the best of his abilities, and I expect him to have much better numbers this season. Finally, the new stadium. This is the best stadium in the United States, and they get to play at it more than any other team in the league. This stadium is a beauty, and the Cowboys have the fans to back it up. But then again, the stadium lives up to the slogan of Texas; “Everything is bigger in Texas wedding gift ideas.”
