Starr's Mill swimmers win 13th straight county title

Starr’s Mill’s swim team won its 13th consecutive county championship last Friday. Both the boys and girls finished in first place, while McIntosh’s boys and girls both placed second and Whitewater’s boys and girls placed third. Our Lady of Mercy placed fourth overall, followed by Fayette County and Sandy Creek.

The Starr’s Mill boys set a new county record in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:40.71. The members of the relay team are John Hall, Robert Scott, Junhan Lee and Timothy Wright. The other county record set at the meet also went to Starr’s Mill as Johanna Goldblatt swam the 100 Backstroke with a time of 58.43.

Other first place finishes for Starr’s Mill were in the Womens 200 Medley Relay (Goldblatt, Sarah Phinney, Ana Hammond and Sarah Pannell; 1:59.48); Austin Palmer, Mens 200 Freestyle, 1:49.66; Junhan Lee, 200 IM, 2:16.26; Timothy Wright, Mens 50 Freestyle, 22.74; Goldblatt, Womens 50 Freestyle, 25.83; Lee, Mens 100 Butterfly, 55.73; John Hall, Mens 100 Freestyle, 49.10; Austin Palmer, Mens 500 Freestyle, 4:48.07; Mens 200 Freestyle Relay (Palmer, Wright, Lee, Hall), 1:33.70; Womens 200 Freestyle Relay (Phinney, Goldblatt, Hammond, Pannell), 1:48.84; Hall, Mens 100 Breaststroke, 1:02.38; Sarah Phinney, Womens 100 Breaststroke, 1:14.65 and Mens 400 Frestyle Relay (Wright, Robert Scott, Cody Clements, Palmer, 3:29.25).

First place finishers for McIntosh were: Alexandra Schmid, Womens 200 IM, 2:18.88; Courtney Bond, Womens 100 Butterfly, 1:01.58; Missy Beall, Womens 100 Freestyle, 56.55; Schmid, Womens 500 Freestyle, 5:25.84; Chipper Machmehl, Mens 100 Backstroke, 54.72 and Womens 400 Freestyle Relay (Beall, Bond, Schmid, Karley Mason), 3:51.16.

First place finishers for Whitewater were: Jordan Watson, Womens 200 Freestyle, 2:04.10.
