Dancing with the Chiefettes comes to McIntosh

wrestling.jpgA performance to remember was delivered this past Wednesday in the McIntosh Auditorium during ‘Dancing with the Chiefettes’. The competing couples performed to music from Madonna, The Lion King, Michael Jackson, Brittney Spears, Van Morrison and many more.

A month earlier athletes from the McIntosh Chiefettes were paired with members of the Wrestling Team who then collaborated to design their own choreography and accompanying music. The McIntosh Chiefettes took the Wrestlers under their wings to teach them a few moves they had never experienced before on the wrestling mats.

Finishing in first place were Morgan Ennis and Sean Carney, second place was Laura Dunlap and Gavin Carlson and third place was captured by Stephanie Goehring and Michael Hervey.

Judging was conducted by Carolyn Fikes, Mike Delisle and Shelley Dowse.

The near sold-out crowd was treated to two special performances by Coaches Yarbrough and Bellantoni. While the judges were tallying the final results Coach Yarbrough was front and center with the Chiefettes as they performed one of their award winning routines. Following that memorable performance it was Mrs. and Coach Bellantoni turn to wow the audience with the moves that first brought them together at Georgia Southern.

Afterwards wrestling coach Nick Bellantoni said “You know those Chiefettes are really a talented bunch of athletes. They prove what can be accomplished with first rate coaching and hard work.”

Chiefettes Coach Yarbrough said “The wrestlers were really good sports. They put in the hours and took the coaching from the girls to put on first rate performances.”
