Former Pioneers make mark at Penn Relays

spor_050312_dehaven and auburn track_COLOR.jpgThe Auburn men’s 4x100 meter relay team, featuring Sandy Creek graduate and former Southside Pioneer Michael DeHaven, took first place in the Penn Relays last weekend with a time of 39.34. The time is the fifth-fastest in Auburn history and also ranks in the top 10 in the NCAA this season.

Other Pioneers who did well at the Penn Relays were:

• McIntosh graduate Vince Brown, a member of Norfolk State University’s 3rd place Sprint Medley relay team (3:22.54).

• Lovejoy graduate DJ Smith, fifth place in the high jump for Auburn (7’1”).

• Whitewater graduate Chazwyn Price, a member of Savannah State University’s seventh place 4x200 meter relay team (1:25.01).
