Register to run in annual Jingle Bell Trail

By Michael Boylan - Posted on 19 November 2008

The children, parents, and faculty of Peachtree City Elementary School are making a list and checking it twice as they prepare for the annual Jingle Bell Trail set for Saturday, Dec. 6.

Race organizers are expecting many kids and adults to come to school and participate in the certified 5-kilometer run or the more leisurely 1-mile run/walk.

This event is designed to boost community spirit, promote wellness, and raise money to support our school improvement focus for the students who attend Peachtree City Elementary. Beverly Kiel, the school’s PE teacher, said, “Students participate in our school running club to get ready for the JBT and look forward to this fun holiday event each year.”
Race organizers promise a festive atmosphere with volunteers bedecked in bright red Santa hats and merry music piped in at the finish line. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be arriving for this event and breakfast items will be available for you to purchase before and after the race.

Applications to enter the Jingle Bell Trail are available in the school’s front office, online at www.pces.org, and will be distributed to locations throughout Fayette County. Applications will be accepted until the morning of the race, although t-shirts are not guaranteed for race day entries.
The 5-K run will begin in front of the school at 9 a.m., while the 1-mile walk/run will start 10 minutes later.

Participants are encouraged to arrive at the school, located at 201 Wisdom Road, at least 45 minutes early to allow time to park, enjoy the festivities, warm up, and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
