Whitewater continues strong season with win at area duals, Fayette takes 4th

The Whitewater Wildcats varsity wrestling team won the Area 3-AAAA area duals last weekend.

The Wildcats (24-2) took out Northgate 56-24 on Friday night. Saturday, they beat the Union Grove 46-24 and won the Area Title over Ola 44-30.

Seven Wildcats won all three matches including Andrew Mitchell (106), Bryan Mitchell (113), Andrew Parsons (120), Austin Penland (138), Max Sultan (145), Francisco Obregon (152) and Andrew Skibiel (160). Trevor Kennedy (132) won two and also went undefeated.

The Wildcats continue their run to the state championship at the Macon Centreplex on Friday.

Fayette County placed fourth in the area duals, going 3-2 in the meet. The Tigers beat Alcovy 44-36, defeated Harris County 41-31, lost to Ola (the runners-up in the duals) 42-30, beat Alcovy 42-34 and lost to Union Grove 43-30.

Will McMahan went 5-0 over the weekend for Fayette County with Daniel Ward, Cody McMillan, Jalon Bowe and Corey Cleveland going 4-1.

Starr’s Mill went 1-2 with looses to Woodland, Henry and Alcovy and a win over Northgate.
