Teams seeking wins against region opponents
Fayette County’s boys (13-1), ranked second in Class AAAA in the latest GACA PrepCounty.com coaches poll, passed 100 points for the first time this year with a 108-56 win over Harris County on Friday.
Four players were in double digits for Fayette County: Bradon Grant (26 points, seven assists), Dante’ Sterling (14) Kellen Sanford (12 points and 10 rebounds) and CJ Johnson (10). Ekene Anachebe had nine points, eight rebounds and five blocks. The Lady Tigers (9-2), ranked sixth in Class AAAA, beat Harris County 76-39.
Last night they hosted Northgate. On Friday, they will host Upson-Lee and on Saturday they will host Sandy Creek.
McIntosh’s Lady Chiefs (11-3) bounced back from their loss to Starr’s Mill last Tuesday with three straight wins. They beat Whitewater Friday 40-24, New Manchester 40-36 Saturday and Harris County 50-28 Monday. Gabby Seiler had 15 points and Cassidy Williams had 12 against Whitewater, while Abby Birrell had 13 points and eight rebounds against New Manchester and Crystal Ojukwu added 11 points and 10 rebounds. The boys (5-9) beat Whitewater 55-51 in overtime Friday, lost to New
Manchester 59-50 Saturday and beat Harris County 61-58.
McIntosh had four players in double figures against Whitewater: Alex Alvarez (13), Mike Williams (14), Biola Brinson (11), Eric Thomason (13). Williams had 17 in the loss to New Manchester whileThomason added 14. Robby Duff had 13 against Harris County, while Alvarez added 12 and Thomason had 11.
McIntosh will host Northgate Friday and Collins Hill on Saturday.
Starr’s Mill’s boys (5-10) bounced back from their loss to McIntosh last week with a 52-47 win over Upson-Lee on Saturday, while the Lady Panthers (13-3) won their sixth game in a row with a 46-11 win over Upson-Lee. The boys were led by 18 points from Nathan Bates and 17 points from Randon Ruff. The girls got 14 points from Danielle Garcia and nine points from Katie Wilson.
Starr’s Mill played at Whitewater last night and will host Harris County on Friday.
Whitewater’s girls (7-8) have lost four games in a row. They followed their loss to McIntosh with a 60-55 loss to Harris County on Saturday. The boys (9-6) bounced back from their loss to the Chiefs and beat Harris County 55-43. On Friday, Whitewater will play at Newnan.
Sandy Creek’s boys (6-9) lost to Eastside last Tuesday (55-47) but beat Stockbridge Friday 53-47. The Lady Patriots (7-7) improved to 6-1 in the region with wins over Eastside (48-35) and Stockbridge (75-27) last week. Sandy Creek hosted Drew last night.
Our Lady of Mercy’s girls (2-6) lost to Paideia 40-34 and Fellowship Christian 50-37 last week. The boys (7-4) lost to Paideia 71-52 but beat Fellowship Christian 54-49. Mercy will host Strong Rock Christian on Friday and will play at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy on Saturday.
The Landmark Christian boys (7-1), ranked ninth in Class A, beat Greenforest Christian 52-46 last Friday, while the girls (2-3) lost 44-21. Landmark hosts ELCA on Friday and Northgate on Saturday afternoon.
