Local volleyball players all over all state teams

The Georgia Volleyball Coaches Association presented the GVCA All-State Awards at the conclusion of the annual All-Star match Saturday.

The GVCA All-State selection committee chose 12 players from each classification to receive the All-State Award. One player from each classification was selected as the Player of the Year. An additional three to five players were chosen for Honorable Mention.

Sandy Creek’s Kalah Jones was named the AAA Player of the Year. She was named to the AAA first team along with Sandy Creek teammates Allie Davenport and Akeila Lain. Brea Sherman was an honorable mention to the AAA team.

McIntosh’s Rhegan Mitchell was named to the AAAA first team along with Whitewater’s Teegan and Annika Van Gunst. McIntosh’s Breana Jones and Starr’s Mill’s Mikaela Gray were honorable mentions to the AAAA team.

Our Lady of Mercy’s Olivia Schmitz was named to the AA-A first team.
