Whitewater softball makes AAAA quarterfinals
Whitewater’s varsity softball team is headed to Columbus.
The Lady Wildcats traveled to Houston County on Wednesday and won 4-3 in game one (extra innings) and 3-2 in game two.
Mackenzie Toler pitched a complete game in the first game, giving up two hits and striking out 12 batters. Gabby Hunt drove in two runs and Rebecca Stallings hit a two run home run in the eighth. Toler and Stallings both had two hits in the win and Brielle Grubbs added a hit. Toler got the win in game two as well, allowing seven hits and striking out seven batters. Hunt drove in the first run and Grubbs hit a two run double to give Whitewater the win. Kim Perkins, Toler and Peyton Roth all picked up hits as well.
Whitewater will face the winner of the Loganville-Chapel Hill series next Thursday in Columbus at 3:30 p.m.
