The regular season for high school softball ends this week and the region tournament, at least for 3-AAAA, is right around the corner.

Whitewater (23-4, 8-2 region) will be the second seed from sub-region 3B-AAAA after losing 1-0 to Northgate last Tuesday. Since that loss, the Lady Wildcats went 4-2 in the Brookwood tournament and beat Fayette County 9-1 on Monday.

In the tournament, Whitewater beat South Gwinnett (5-1), Dacula (3-2 in eight innings), Collins Hill (2-0) and Greater Atlanta Christian (4-3). Their losses were to Jackson County (5-2) and Kennesaw Mountain (3-1). Katie Cannington was 3-1 in the tournament and also was the winning pitcher against Fayette County. The Lady Wildcats got multiple hit games in the tournament from Gabby Hunt, Becca Stallings, Kylee Southers, Peyton Roth, Hannah Thomason and Taylor Sturdivant, while Mackenzie Toler homered in the win over South Gwinnett. Whitewater wrapped up the regular season with a game at Starr’s Mill today and will host McIntosh tomorrow. They will open the region playoffs at home Thursday against Alcovy at 5 p.m.

Starr’s Mill (13-13-1, 5-6 region) is fourth in the sub-region behind Harris County. The Lady Panthers went 2-3-1 in the Brookwood tournament. They beat Luella (3-0) and Grayson (4-2), tied Dacula (2-2) and lost to Harrison (11-0), Franklin County (4-2) and George Walton Academy (7-6).

McIntosh (16-10, 4-6 region) has won seven games in a row. They close out the regular season with a home game against Harris County today and a game at Whitewater tomorrow. The Lady Chiefs are fifth in the region behind Starr’s Mill.

Fayette County (2-11, 1-10) closes out their season at Northgate tonight.

In AAA, Sandy Creek went 1-1 last week beating Drew 24-12 and losing 8-0 to Eagle’s landing. On Monday, the Lady Patriots beat Stockbridge 5-2. They end the regular season this week with a home game against Locust Grove tonight and an away game at Henry County on Thursday.
